The docs at http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/models/fields/#django.db.models.ManyToManyFields.limit_choices_to says "limit_choices_to has no effect when used on a ManyToManyField with an intermediate table." This is confusing since just a few paragraphs above, it states "Behind the scenes, Django creates an intermediary join table to represent the many-to-many relationship." These two statements seem to be at odds to each other. I think what is meant is that limit_choices_to does not work on intermediate tables that are specified via the 'through' parameter, but this is only a guess (as I don't know of any other kind of intermediate table that it could be referring to.)
