Description

I was looking at the sitemaps documentation and I thought it should state that you must first submit your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools before you can submit/resubmit with Django according to this page.

http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=34609

I submitted updated documentation with this ticket.

  • Component changed from Contrib apps to Documentation
  • milestone 1.0 beta deleted
  • Needs documentation unset
  • Needs tests unset
  • Patch needs improvement set
  • Triage Stage changed from Unreviewed to Accepted

This isn't a blocker for the 1.0-beta.

Please attach a patch showing the change you would like to make, rather than attaching the whole file. That way we can see what is being changed and also apply it even if the file(s) in question should change between patch creation and application.

  • Patch needs improvement set
  • Triage Stage changed from Ready for checkin to Accepted

This is a good catch and worth changing, but I'd prefer to be a little more explicit that it must first be submitted via the special tools. Currently, it's kind of a "by the way" thing in the first line of that change. Let's make it clear using something like "First you must submit... After that, if ..."

Ok, let me know if this works for you. Sorry about all the crazy changes on Trac.

This is fine, but can wait until after the docs-refactor lands (which will be very soon).

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

(In [8519]) Fixed #7996: Added a note that you need to register your site with Google in order for the ping_google command to work. Thanks to Jason Broyles (issya) for the suggestion.
