I just compiled GDAL 2.2 and the only error I'm getting is a minor WKT string difference in gis_tests.gdal_tests.test_ds.DataSourceTest.test05_geometries.

It's likely my test system wasn't configured correctly then.

In 2862760:

Fixed #28257 -- Confirmed support for GDAL 2.2

Additionally, a test has been updated to account for small SRS WKT differences.
Thanks Tim Graham for writing the doc part.
