I could be wrong, but I think there needs to be a run of resync as the admin log is not created.
Rather than edit the "What's up?" question I added a new question to the poll and clicked 'save and continue' and got an error because the admin log table did not exist until I have resynced. This might not have happened if I had followed the tutorial exactly, so this may be a ticket for a non-issue.
Great tutorial by the way.

In the section https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.5/intro/tutorial02/#activate-the-admin-site, there is the following line:
Run python manage.py syncdb. Since you have added a new application to INSTALLED_APPS, the database tables need to be updated.
Did you omit that step?
