3232Try to scope ideas/proposals to the 4-month timeline -- simply proposing to fix a ticket or two will probably result in your proposal being rejected in favor of a more ambitious one.  The SOC '''does not cover activities other than coding''', so certain ideas ("Write a more detailed tutorial" or "Create demonstration screencasts" or "[wiki:AddAPony Add a pony]") are not suitable for inclusion here.

34You should also try to avoid projects that are on the Django 'critical path' -- that is, projects that the Django core developers are working on as a priority for the v1.0 release. As much as we would like help working on newforms-admin or queryset-refactor, these projects aren't really good topics for GSOC projects. Of course, it also makes sense to avoid any project that would be seriously affected by the anticipated changes to the trunk -- for example, proposing a big change to trunk admin views would not be wise.

3436On the other side, though, be sure to be concrete in your proposal. We'll want to know what your goals are, and how you plan to accomplish them.
