Django sprint in Austin, TX on August 15th & 16th, 2008

We'll be holding a Django development sprint on The University of Texas at Austin campus on Friday, August 15, and Saturday, August 16, 2008.

This sprint will be focused on preparing the 1.0-rc release (see 1.0 roadmap). More details will be posted here and announced on django-dev as we get closer to the sprint.

What's a sprint? How do I participate?

See Sprints for information about how sprints work, how you can participate, etc.

Anybody, anywhere around the world, can participate and contribute. We'll be gathering in person in Austin, but if you can't make it you can also help out in IRC.

You can find all the gory details on the Sprints page.

Attendees

If you plan to participate in the sprint, add your name to the roster below. We have space for around 100 attendees.

Getting There

We will be holding the sprint on UT campus, in ACA 1.104.

Map (with sprint and parking locations): google map (I promise it's not just a parking lot anymore.)

If you have any questions, please contact gary.wilson@….

Arriving by plane

For those arriving by plane, the airport is about 12 miles from campus. There is an airport flyer bus (route 100) that services the UT campus and runs every 40 minutes from about 6am to 11pm. Fare is $1, and the end of the line is a block away from the sprint location. Expect about a 30 minute ride.

Parking

Note: all surface parking on campus requires a faculty/staff/student permit (some only M-F, 7:30am to 5:45pm) and without a permit you will be ticketed.

For parking on Friday, options are:

  • One of several garages on campus. Cost is $9 for any duration over 2.5 hours. The San Jacinto Garage (SJG) and Speedway Garage (SWG) are both a couple blocks from the sprint location.
  • Park on a street north of campus for free and walk about 5 blocks to the sprint location. Be watchful of signs requiring a residence parking permit, though.

For parking on Saturday:

  • There is surface parking nearby that does not require a permit on the weekends.
