I noticed this a few months back but never got round to creating a ticket for it, but I've noticed that it's still present in the docs.  The form media examples (https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/forms/media/) all use media.example.com in their urls.  Now that the STATIC_URL is used to create the url for each media component before falling back to MEDIA_URL I suggest that the documentation reflects this.
